Bagnoles-de- l'Orne is a pretty Spa town and the largest spa in western France.  Situated in the middle of an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Andaines Forest.

The town grew up around the thermes attracting the well off bourgeoisie to take the waters.  There are several legends surrounding how and why the spa was discovered.

The town sits around a pretty lake surrounded by woodland suitable for all kinds of outdoor pursuits.

There are plenty of activities to suit all including a casino, cinema and shops and restaurants.

The 'Belle Epoque' area of town was built between 1886 and 1914 and is a fine example of an early 20th century bourgoise residential area with huge villas with bow windows and unique roofs.
